Gabe Jennings is about to make art at a cross-country meet. He arrives, later than expected, at thef Portland Meadows racetrack in Oregon. "Sorry," Jennings says. "The morning sort of got away from me." It's a dank, cold Saturday in autumn, and some of the best high school cross-country teams on the West Coast have gathered for the Nike Pre-Nationals meet. Grabbing his video camera, Jennings begins tearing around the course to shoot the purple-clad runners of South Eugene High School, where he serves as a volunteer assistant coach.
