FinishLynx timing system used at Hayward Field to separate winners from also-rans

If the winner of the men’s 100 meters in the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials runs a world record of 9.70 seconds on Sunday, the crowd at Hayward Field should know it just a split second later.

That is the goal of the timer, who wants to get the final result and post it on the videoboard in as speedy a manner as the participants are running.
