EUGENE -- Not that people in this area needed a reminder, but the countdown board at Fifth Street Public Market in downtown Eugene displayed a "1" on Thursday.

That meant there was one day to prepare for today's 1 p.m. start of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. And despite the hustle and bustle still taking place around Hayward Field on Thursday evening, organizers and city officials remained confident that all will go as planned when the first shuttles depart at 10 a.m.
