EUGENE, Ore. — An absent person’s shadow will loom large over the men’s 100 meters at the United States Olympic track and field trials — Usain Bolt of Jamaica, who set a startling world record of 9.72 seconds at the Reebok Grand Prix meet in New York on May 31.
