 Abdi Abdirahman wins the 10k after leading from the gun. He ran 27:41.89. Galen Rupp places 2nd in 27:43.11 with Jorge Torres running 27:46.33.

Abdi led just about the whole race running 67 second laps like a machine. The trio of Abdi, Rupp and Torres ran together as a pack for the last part of the race. Rupp took over with about two laps to go and then Abdi relinquished his lead with 400 to go. Both reached the bell lap at 26:42. Abdi's 59 second last lap put the distance on Rupp. Torres was a few meters back around 1200 to go.

After the race Abdi went for a victory lap. He grabbed a t-shirt from the crowd and then gave it away. He then jumped into the steeple pit to "cool off" and the crowd went wild. To finish his lap, he tossed his sunglasses into the crowd.
