In the most important race of his young career, in front of 20,936 adoring fans at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials at Hayward Field on Friday night, Oregon’s Galen Rupp stepped onto the grandest stage of them all.

The UO all-American saw his dreams come true as he secured a berth on the U.S. team that will compete in the Beijing Olympics with a stirring second-place performance in the final of the 10,000 meters.
