Eugene, Ore. -- Alysia Johnson's dream of making the U.S. Olympic team in the 800 meters came to a sudden and unexpected end Friday night when the graduating Cal senior finished ninth in her quarterfinal and had to be taken by wheelchair for a medical check.

There was no immediate word on what the problem was, but Johnson clearly was not herself in a race she was expected to breeze through easily on the way to today's semifinals.
