Rachel Yurkovich has emphasized training this year and competed only in major events

Rachel Yurkovich has taken the approach that less is more in 2008.

To save her best throws for the meets that matter most -- the Olympic Trials and perhaps the Beijing Games -- Yurkovich has trained through many weekends when the rest of her Oregon teammates were competing.

The Newberg native and javelin specialist, who won her third Pacific-10 Conference title this spring and is a rising national star, is healthier and stronger than ever.
