"The festival was used as a methodology for bringing more people in and providing a different kind of experience for spectators," said Greg Erwin, co-chairman of the Eugene 08 organizing committee. "It's meant to be an experience for everyone. We tried to expand it beyond just track and field fans."

The fan festival will run throughout the June 27-July 6 trials, including the "dark days" on July 1 and 2, when no competition will take place. Its main area will be the intramural turf field located behind the West Grandstand, and the festival will continue along East 15th Avenue and behind the East Grandstand on Agate Street.
