Olympics,  Nike clamp down on symbol use - The Register-Guard

The local Budweiser distributor says it has been busy this week putting up, and now taking down, banners welcoming people to the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials.

The problem? Unapproved use of both the Nike-designed Eugene 08 logo, and of the multi-colored Olympic rings next to Budweiser’s logo.

The distributor, Western Beverage, had hung the large, white banners at bars, taverns and its other accounts throughout town.

Now it’s working on new posters to replace the objectionable ones, said general sales manager Dennis Fiedler. But that might not put an end to the distributor’s troubles.
