EUGENE -- Ready or not -- and organizers insist they are ready -- the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials begin a 10-day run Friday at Hayward Field.

"We've planned the planning and planned the plan," said Oregon coach Vin Lananna, co-chair of the Eugene 08 organizing committee. "Now it's time to execute it."

The plan involved a $9.2 million facelift of Hayward Field that added 6,000 temporary seats, a newly resurfaced track, an infield design change and two video scoreboards, one permanent, one temporary.
